Behind the Scenes at The Localist
Welcome to 2025!
January marks a fresh start – a time to plan, reflect, and prepare for the year ahead. While winter might seem quiet, it’s one of the busiest and most exciting times for us at The Localist. Behind the scenes, we’re hard at work restocking shelves, curating local goods, and mapping out the year’s events to bring you the best of what Colorado has to offer. Here’s a peek into what winter looks like at The Localist and how we’re setting the stage for an incredible 2025.
1. Restocking and Curating Local Goods
Winter is all about refreshing our shelves with thoughtfully selected items from our 90+ Colorado makers. From handmade beanies to winter-inspired teas and candles, we’re in constant contact with our talented vendors to ensure every product is meaningful, high-quality, and perfectly suited to the season.
Featured Maker: This month, we’re thrilled to welcome Monarch Trail to The Localist family, offering all natural body butter, salves, soaps, face oils, hair oils, and beard oils. Their work embodies everything we love about supporting local talent: creativity, quality, and community connection.

2. Preparing for 2025 Events and Workshops
Our Workshop space is the heart of creativity and connection at The Localist, and January is when we plan our calendar of events for the year. From crafting workshops to seasonal celebrations, we’re busy brainstorming themes, sourcing materials, and crafting experiences you’ll love.
What type of workshops would you like to attend at The Localist? We’d love your input.
Insider Tip: Interested in hosting your own event at The Workshop? We’d love to help bring your idea to life! Do you have a great idea for a workshop this year? Please share!
3. Updating Displays and Restaging
A new year means fresh displays! We’re reimagining our window displays and in-store setups for the year to showcase seasonal items and keep things exciting for our returning customers.
Pro Tip: If you’re looking for inspiration to refresh your own home or workspace, stop by the shop! Our one-of-a-kind items are perfect for adding warmth and charm to any space!
4. Connecting with Our Team
Winter offers a chance to regroup with our incredible team. Whether brainstorming new marketing ideas, updating inventory numbers, or training new team members like Sienna, we’re always working to create an exceptional shopping experience.
Team Highlight: This month, meet Sienna. Sienna loves working at The Localist “because it gives me the opportunity to connect with people who have a passion for shopping local and I’m excited to help you find your next treasure”. Her favorite product “is Palisade Peach Jam, sadly we are out until peach season again, but the maker, Patricia’s Pantry, is working on blueberry and strawberry jam, yum!”
5. Tackling Owner Projects
Running a small business involves plenty of behind-the-scenes work! January is when we tackle everything from filing paperwork to planning budgets, ensuring The Localist runs smoothly throughout the year.
A Peek into Elaine’s Day: Ever wonder what my day looks like? It’s a mix of revieing inventory, juggling documents, and planning events. Running a small business isn’t always glamorous, but it’s always rewarding!
6. Winter Challenges and Triumphs
Winter comes with its own set of challenges, from unpredictable weather to post-holiday lulls. But with every challenge comes an opportunity to adapt and thrive.
A Quick Win: One of our favorite recent moments? Restocking a customer-favorite, Pikes Peak Blackberry Lemon Drop Cocktail mix, and hearing your excitement! Your enthusiasm keeps us going, even on the coldest days.
We love sharing these behind-the-scenes moments because they’re what make The Localist truly special. Stop by and see what’s new this winter! Whether you’re looking for a cozy pick-me-up or simply want to say hello, we’d love to see you!
